To season cast iron, clean iron skillet with soap and water and immediately dry with a towel. Use a OO scotch brite or steel wool pad to prep the surface and remove any food or old seasoning build up. Apply thin layer of seasoning compound to entire skillet. Wipe off excess throughly with several clean rags or paper towel until there is no visible oil on the surface.. Place in 450 degree oven for one hour. We recommend turning off the oven after 1 hour and letting the pan/pans cool on the rack slowly to avoid handling the hot pans or causing a warp due to rapid cooling. Repeat as needed.

This seasoning compound can also be used for maintaining your cast iron and protecting your skillets when not in use. After cleaning and drying your cast iron throughly, apply the seasoning compound and wipe down using the same process as preparing for seasoning, however baking is not necessary. The natural seed oils will protect your cast iron from surface rust from high humidity when stored and not in use. The natural seed oils are safe for long term storage as there is no worry of the product going rancid from being left out. This product can also be used to treat and protect other iron and steel surfaces in and around your home.
